Streaming  from the Internet requires a stable, high-speed Internet connection to avoid freezing, buffering and re-buffering. If your home network is fast enough to keep up with the playback, then buffering is not necessary.  But when your connection to the Internet slows down, it cannot keep up with the playback, so the playback is “paused” to allow the file download (video) or “stream” to catch up with the playback.
